Jones will have no involvement with Wallaby RWC squad, says Rennie

Wallaby boss Dave Rennie has poured cold water onto rumours that Eddie Jones could be involved with the side come World Cup kick off.

A return for Jones to Australia has been a much talked-about subject since the 62 year-old was recently sacked from his position of England head coach. However, it does not appear that Jones is part of Rennie’s plans this year.

“It’s not going to happen,” Rennie told reporters. “It’s not going to happen before the World Cup.

“We’ve had no discussions around changes to the coaching group … what happens beyond 2023 is another matter.”

Jones himself has also made it clear that an assistant role is not what he is after.

“I’m not an assistant coach, mate,” he told Reuters. “I’m not interested in that sort of job.”
