The 4-Test cap halfback featured in the final Ireland Series clash and has inked a two-year extension to remain in the nation’s capital.
The 24-year old has established himself a Super Rugby regular with the Brumbies after his first national squad selection in June 2016.
Joe Powell said: “I’m really excited for what we’re building at the Brumbies but also the Wallabies and I’m really enjoying being part of that.
“The World Cup is a big target of mine for next year but right now I’m just focused on playing the best possible footy for the Brumbies and hopefully challenge for the Super Rugby title again,” Powell said.
Powell made his Super Rugby debut in 2015 after signing a short-term deal as injury cover for then-halfback Nic White.
The former carpenter was a bolter in Michael Cheika’s squad for the England Series in 2016 before making his Test debut against Fiji at AAMI Park last year
