Hurricanes stun the Crusaders and end 36 game unbeaten run

The Crusaders 36 game unbeaten home run came to an end as they were edged out 34-32 by the Hurricanes in an absolutely thrilling round 7 Super Rugby Aoteroa clash.
The sides traded early penalties and a try apiece saw the scores level 10-10 around the midpoint of the first half.
The Hurricanes edged ahead with a penalty, but the Crusaders responded almost immediately with a try to lead 17-13. The Hurricanes would finish the first half strongly, with their second try putting them in front before a penalty with the final play saw them take a 21-17 advantage into the halftime break.

The Crusaders slotted an early second half penalty to reduce the deficit to a single point, but that was cancelled out by a Hurricanes penalty to restore their four point lead.
The Hurricanes then took control of the match as they crossed for their third try to push their lead out to 31-20 with just under 20 minutes to play.
The Crusaders needed a response and hit back with their third try to trail just 31-27 with a little over ten minutes remaining. The Hurricanes then made it a seven point ball game with a penalty with around 5 minutes left.
The Crusaders once again bounced back and ran in a late fourth try, but the conversion to level things up and possibly send the game to extra time drifted wide.
