An early second half try saw the Sharks regain the lead, but the Chiefs responded soon after with a try to sneak in front 17-15. The sea-saw battle continued as a Sharks penalty saw them in front by a single point. The Sharks took control with their third try to extend the lead to eight points, with a penalty following to all but wrap up the match at 28-17. The Chiefs would score with the final play to earn a losing bonus point.
