Flanker Emily Robinson will enter her fifth season at Quins looking to hit the ground running after suffering an ankle injury in the famous win away at Saracens in December 2021, which ruled the forward out for the remainder of the 21/22 season. Robinson will also take up a coaching role at Worthing College to support the growth of their DiSE rugby programme as the partnership between Harlequins Women and Chichester College Group strengthens.
After signing her new deal, Robinson said: I am looking forward to being back on the pitch with the great group of girls we have. I can't wait to add my value to the group and squeeze the expertise from our new coaching group.”
Fellow back-row Katy Mew will also begin her fifth season in South West London after re-signing. After suffering a wrist injury which kept the flanker out for five months, Mew will be looking to start the season where she left off after putting in strong performances towards the back end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Mew added: “I’m extremely excited to have re-signed for Quins. I’m looking forward to working with the new coaching team and getting back with the girls. I can’t wait for the new season ahead and to be able to wear the jersey once again.”
Front-row pair Rosie Dobson and Sheree Cooper have also put pen to paper on new deals at the Club. Hooker Dobson has featured in new Harlequins Women’s Head Coach Amy Turner’s England U18 and U20 squad previously and is looking forward to continuing to learn from the former Harlequins captain.
Dobson commented: “I’m super excited for the upcoming campaign with fresh faces joining the new coaching structure. It’s something I’m massively looking forward to! I’ve been lucky enough to already have been coached by Amy for England U18s and U20s and can’t wait to continue to learn under her leadership!
“This season is going to open a lot of opportunities for lots of us whilst some of the other girls are away at the World Cup. It’s always a privilege to be part of this team and I can’t wait to continue my journey here.”
Tighthead-prop Sheree Cooper is also looking forward to the upcoming season after featuring fourteen times last season which included a trip down to Exeter for the Allianz Cup final.
Cooper said: “I'm excited to re-sign with Harlequins and to be part of a great team. Last season really pushed me to new level. I was pleased to play in so many games. It improved me so much as a player.”
“There's much more to come from me and next season can't come soon enough. I'm looking forward to getting stuck in and continuing my playing career as a Quin. Roll on pre-season with the girls, COYQ!”
