Gloucester vs Worcester: Review

Gloucester overcame local rivals Worcester in a highly entertaining game at Kingsholm, by a scoreline of 27 points to 13.

Worcester were tipped by many to provide an upset on the night, and started off brightly. High in intensity and aggression, the visitors grabbed the first try of the game through Ben Howard. A loose pass in midfield was picked up by Symons, and the inside centre showed good pace to get on the outside of the Gloucester line, before offloading back inside to Howard to canter home from 40 metres out.

Gloucester had been slow to start, but the metronomic boot of Greig Laidlaw kept them in the game approaching half time. Worcester looked like going in ahead at the break, until Jonny May found space on the wing to chip forward into open space. He followed the kick up and turned possession over, to feed the onrushing Laidlaw for a try in the corner.

The second half saw a much more dominant display from the home side, as Worcester looked to visibly tire. Laidlaw and Worcester 10 Ryan Lamb traded penalties before a powerful Gloucester maul got Matt Kvesic over the line to put some gloss on the scoreline.
