- 2390
Following the announcement of their 39-man squad for the upcoming Rugby Championship, we slightly shift our attention to the 4 new uncapped players in the squad, namely: Braydon Ennor, Josh Ioane, Luke Jacobson and Sevu Reece.
Braydon Ennor
Former NZ under-20s rep, who hails from Auckland, utility Braydon Ennor dived onto the provincial rugby scene in 2017 with a standout season for Canterbury team.
Regarded as one of New Zealand rugby’s bright, young prospects and with the ability to play wing, centre or fullback, the 21-year-old has earlier featured for the New Zealand Under 20 side at the World Rugby Under 20 Championship in Georgia, where he played in four games, including the Final.
A chain of impressive performances saw Ennor sign for the Crusaders in 2018/19, playing 15 games in his debut Super season, before starring in 2019.
Josh Ioane
Speedster Ioane was included into the Highlanders wider training squad in December 2016 after catching the eye of the club's coaches.
After sharpening his skills in the game in 2017, the 23-year-old's composure and running skills were undeniable, guaranteeing him a provincial debut and eventual Super Rugby debut in 2018.
He took his game to another level in 2019 as the first choice 10 for the Highlanders.
Luke Jacobson
Jacobson started his career in the New Zealand Schools team in 2014 and in 2016 he made the New Zealand Under 20 team.
One of three brothers making their mark in rugby, the 22-year-old went on to captain the Under 20s team to victory in Georgia before making his Waikato debut, which he later went on to captain in 2018.
A punishing defender and smart with the ball-in-hand, Jacobson made his Super Rugby debut in 2018 for the Chiefs.
Sevu Reece
From being a rugby, track, and field schoolboy star in his Fiji homeland, Reece polished his rugby skills when he was called into the Waikato squad for the 2016 Mitre 10 Cup
A string of solid impressive performances led to his call-up into the Crusaders in 2019 as an injury replacement, with his blistering pace and unbelievable finishing cementing his name on the regular season's try-scoring table with 13 tries, as well as 109 carries and 34 clean breaks, and was named the Crusaders Rookie of the Year.
