Gael Fickou could be added to the already impressive Racing 92 backline

Racing 92 have no shortage of quality in their backline but that hasn't stopped them from looking to add even more star power.

Having recently acquired the services of Los Pumas utility back Emiliano Boffelli, Racing 92 have turned their attention to their latest target in Les Bleus centre Gael Fickou. 

According to Midi Olympique, Stade Francais are looking to slash their wage bill after they had to fork out a €300 000 fine for a salary cap breach last year. The move to reduce their wage bill could see Gael Fickou leave the club to join their Parisian neighbours. 

Fickou joined Stade Francais from Toulouse in 2018 with the club reportedly paying €500 000 to secure his early release from his contract but it now looks like the club are willing to let him leave as they attempt to get in the salary cap manager's good books.

While Fickou could be heading to Racing, the club could be losing one of their star players with Simon Zebo nearing a return to Ireland according to Midi Olympique. Boffelli was rumoured to be Zebo's replacement at the club with recent reports suggesting that the club had changed their minds but the situation seems to have changed once again. 

While the likes of Zebo and Teddy Thomas could leave the club at the end of the season, Racing 92 are set to still have a stellar backline at their disposal.
