Viewers were spoilt for choice tonight as three head to head Pro14 matches were played tonight. As we reached the penultimate stage of the competition there were some crucial performances which were required by teams and in those teams’ certain individuals put their hands up allowing themselves to be counted. We take a look at tonight’s results and top performers.
Kings 7 - 43 Ospreys
Treviso 28 - 37 Munster
Edinburgh 7 - 29 Ulster
Dan Evans - Ospreys
Having amassed 133 caps for the Ospreys, the 30-year-old fullback's biggest performance might have been tonight. 104 metres gained and a hattrick of tries were just some of the sterling figures that the Swansea born Welsh International recorded tonight. He also deservedly walked away with the man of the match award. While this stellar performance might have come against a battling Kings side it will give Evans much needed confidence as Ospreys hope to secure a playoff position next week.
Keelan Giles - Ospreys
Only 21 years old but playing with the heart of a seasoned campaign, the left winger caused plenty of headaches for the opposition tonight. Including his 93 metres made the electrifying younger also beat four defenders in the process. His slick footwork often left the opposition bamboozled and chasing ghost while he put his side on the front always. He can only get better from here.
JJ Hanrahan - Munster
Playing in a crucial game, the versatile pivot was in charge tonight. Awarded man of the match he showed great signs of big match temperament as he played the game on his own terms. When quick ball was needed Hanrahan was the man. When things needed to be slowed down he was equally up to the challenge. His partnership with the experience Albie Mathewson might have been the key to Munster's tight victory tonight. He was also clinical with the boot recording 17 points at a 100% kicking ratio.
Chris Cloete - Munster
The South African born fetcher was once again instrumental tonight. In a game that was often played at a fast pace Cloete did his fair share to slow things down tonight. His 10 tackles contributed well to Munster pulling off a very important victory tonight. It will be interesting to see how he performance in the closing stages of the Pro14 competition.
Iain Henderson - Ulster
Coming to Murrayfield, Ulster did not think that they would walk away as 29 - 7 winners against Edinburgh tonight. Nevertheless, it was efforts such as the one put in by Iain Henderson that ensured the victory. 20 tackles and 10 carries the lock forward was incredible tonight. Leading from the front his never die attitude kept his side on the high as they held Edinburgh scoreless for nearly an hour. He was also awarded man of the match and deservedly so.
