Fenby retires following impressive try-scoring return

London Irish winger Andrew Fenby has retired from professional rugby, the Club can confirm.

A qualified chartered accountant, the 30-year-old has now set his sights on pursuing a career in the City following an illustrious career that has spanned 12 seasons.

Racking up 126 tries in 214 games during his career, Fenby joined the Exiles from Scarlets in 2013 and would go on to become a firm favourite amongst supporters.

Plying his trade for Blaydon, Newcastle and Scarlets prior to his move to the Exiles, Fenby has crossed the whitewash 28 times in 61 appearances for the Club.

Fenby underlined his credentials as a lethal finisher by being the Club’s top try scorer during his first campaign with Irish, setting the tone for an impressive season the following year.

His pace, power and elusive running game was a key factor in the Exiles’ run to the quarter-finals of the European Challenge Cup in the 2014-15 season.

“I have really enjoyed my time with London Irish and it is with a heavy heart that I have come to make this decision and pursue a new opportunity,” said the former Newcastle University student.

“London Irish have fantastic facilities and there is an infrastructure in place that should allow the Club to make an immediate return to the Aviva Premiership and realise its ambitions in years to come” added Fenby.
