Fekitoa's Participation in Premiership Final "Very doubtful"

Star Wasps centre Malakai Fekitoa is not looking in great shape to make onto the pitch as Exeter take on Wasps at Sandy Park for the 2019-20 Premiership title on Saturday 24 October.

The former All Black scored for Wasps in the semi-finals last weekend against Bristol but left the field shortly thereafter.

"We're still awaiting his scan results," said Wasps head coach Lee Blackett.

"It's obviously his groin. For a guy to leave the field the way he left it, you know it'll be serious enough. We'll do everything we can to get him back out there but until we see the scan results we won't know exactly where he is."

The loss of Fekitoa will be felt hard by Wasps as the 28 year old has been in blistering form of late. Bleckett added that it was “very doubtful” whether Fekitoa would play a part in the final.

Wasps have two outside centres waiting in the wings in Sam Spink and Springbok Juan de Jongh. The latter, although having proved himself more than capable, has only played one game since rugby’s return after the hiatus and is thus low on match-fitness. 21 year old Sam Spink has played just 23 minutes since the restart.

"Juan's in his last day of return to play today (hamstring) so he'll be in full training come Thursday and then Sam Spink's been back in training for a couple of weeks obviously played the Leicester game. He's been back in training so he's fine." said Bleckett.
