England vs South Africa Key Moments

South Africa manage to get another 1 point win in a classic Rugby World Cup Semi-Final going down to the wire with South Africa winning after being behind on the scoreboard for a large majority of the match. Here are some key moments:

1’ Daly high ball tap back. England win penalty and up 3-0

England win the first contest of the match and put the pressure immediately on South Africa after Daly taps  the ball back off kick off and England end up winning penalty with Farrell slotting the 3 points

16' England stop maul attempt , win scrum penalty 

England stopped South Africa’s third maul attempt by turning over possession. This was a key moment as England were able to consecutivly stop one of South Africa's key areas of attack and put the pressure back on them by keeping the Springboks inside their own half.

22' Willemse poor pass, England win penality and score another 3

Willemse initially does well off the kick by taking the high ball under pressure. He then makes a bad decision throws the ball away in fear of being counter rucked putting South Africa under more pressure. England force a penalty and take another 3 points

33' Tom curry HIA, Billy vunipola knock on

The springboks manage to force a knock on in the carry by replacement back rower Billy Vunipola after Tom Curry had to go off for a head injury assesment. South Africa pounce on the turnover and start attacking England through their powerful forwards in the 22m. They get a penalty and take the 3 points 

50' Ox Nche Sub

On the 60th minute, South Africa make a key subsistution taking Steven Kitsoff off and bringing on one of the most feared props in the scrum battle. Ox Nche makes an instrumental impact by absolutly demolishing the England scrum on multiple occasions and played a pivotal role in bringing South Africa back into the game.

51' Tighthead scrum by South Africa 

Ox Nche makes his presence felt in his first scrum, on England's put in, by absolutely dominating Dan Cole in a when South Africa were under pressure in their 22m resulting in a turnover.

52’ 22 restart win and Genge carry, Farrell drop goal 15-6

Arendse takes the high ball under pressure and England overload the ruck creating a turnover. Farrel takes full advantage of the turnover and sets up in the pocket slotting a superb 45m drop goal.

67' England knock on after Farrell kick

Farrell puts a high up and under giving South Africa a scrum on the halfway line. South Africa get the penalty off a scrum and Pollard punts a brilliant kick from the penalty setting up a lineout just under 10m out. South Africa fake a maul and Deon Fourie breaks off falling just short of the line. Rj Snyman powers over 2 phases later to swing the momentum in South Africa's favour

73' South Africa call a mark and opt to scrum 

After taking a mark in the 22m a few minutes earlier and opting to kick, South Africa chose to take the scrum this time and are awarded a penalty, giving them much needed momentum to get back in Englands terriotory with not much time left.

75' South scrum after England knock on 50m

England knock the ball on after their own kick giving South Africa the perfect opportunity at set piece to get a scrum penalty. Springboks maximise this oppoutbnuty and Handre Pollard steps up and kicks a match winning penalty with immense amounts of pressure on his shoulders
