Biarritz Olympique second row Johnny Dyer will not play this season.
This is a huge blow for Biarritz Olympique, who are preparing to start their Pro D2 season this Friday against Valence-Romans in Aguiléra. The Fijian second row, Johnny Dyer, will miss the entire season, having come off injured during the derby against Aviron Bayonnais. His coach, Boris Bouhraoua, announced this on Monday, August 26.
"It's very bad news since his season ended with a ruptured Achilles tendon. We were hoping to have Johnny for the whole season, he's a key player in the team. But today, I already hope he comes back as soon as possible. We're going to support him, mentally too. He'll always be with us, all season, during his rehabilitation, etc. That's a certainty."
In other injury news, Ilian Perraux was taken off in the 4th minute after suffering a concussion during their first friendly match against Dax.
Boris Bouhraoua also confirmed that the club was in the final stages regarding the arrival of New Zealand prop Solomone Tukuafu, specifying that there were still "a few details to settle”.
