Dillon Smit faces long stay of the sidelines

Talented Lions scrumhalf Dillon Smit faces months of rehabilitation on the sidelines after he suffered a blow to the shoulder last Friday evening against the Sharks in the opening round of Super Rugby Unlocked in South Africa.
Smit stayed on the field for a while after the initial knock but was visibly uncomfortable. It was later confirmed that his shoulder had been dislocated, requiring surgery which took place today (Tuesday) which will yield a more accurate prognosis.
The Lions will be disappointed as Smit, who has been back-up scrumhalf at the franchise for the past couple of seasons, was looking good with sharp service to fly-half Elton Jantjies.
The Lions lost their opening fixture to the Sharks 19-16 and will look to get back on their feet this weekend as they face the Stormers at Newlands.
