Newcastle Falcons flanker Connor Collett has signed up for another season with the Kingston Park club.
The 26-year-old Englishman has made nine appearances this season, scoring one try, and insisted it was a straightforward decision to extend his stay in the North East.
“I’ve been here four years now and have just signed on for a fifth, and I’ve really enjoyed my time here,” said Collett, who joined from New Zealand province North Harbour.
“I get on really with the boys, I love the city, I love the club and the atmosphere that our supporters create.
“Over the last couple of years I’ve been getting a bit more game time, and hopefully I can push on with that next season.”
Forming part of a powerful back-row contingent, Collett added: “We’ve got heaps of talent here in the back row so it’s a really competitive area of the team, and that just drives everybody on to keep improving and performing for the team.
“I’m learning a lot by being in that kind of company, and I’m looking forward to pushing on now and hopefully pressing my case to get some more game time.”
Director of rugby Dean Richards was delighted to have retained the services of the foraging flanker, saying: “Connor is an outstanding talent with a great attitude, and we look forward to having him with us for another season.
“He is developing really well in what is one of our most competitive areas of the team, and he will be pushing strongly for selection.”
