Clermont and Toulouse share the spoils
- 834
It was first against second, meaning everything was on the line. Both teams had plenty to lose and by the manner in which they played, it was evident that they knew this.
Clermont Auvergne were the first to get on the board with a kick at goal and were also the first to build a bit of a lead over Toulouse. Clermont were firing on all cylinders in the first half which allowed them to receive points through the hands of Naqalevu and Betham. Not long after that two players had to be replaced for multiple reasons to improve performance at the scrums.
Clermont received a yellow card in the 50th minute and Toulouse then took advantage from there. Toulouse managed to score a try through Lebel and not long after, N'tamack. These two tries along with the kicks at goal by Ramos proved to be crucial as they brought the scores in line with each other.
By the time Ramos had kicked his final kick, time was up and the scores were tied leaving the table remains unchanged. Toulouse were definitely the better team in the second half while Clermont took that title in the first half. Both teams deserved the result that they received after what was a relatively slow game.
Despite no movement on the logs, both teams will be happy with how they sit going into Christmas and they look forward to their next outings where their luck can change for the better.
