A dominant second half performance saw Toulouse claim a 25-20 away win over Gloucester in the opening round of the Champions Cup. Toulouse opened the scoring with an early drop goal, but the Cherry and Whites hit back with two tries to build a 14-3 lead around the midpoint of the first half. The battle of the boot dominated the remainder of the opening forty, with the sides alternating two penalties apiece as Gloucester took a 20-9 advantage into the break. Toulouse came out firing in the second half and managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over with two early penalties to reduce the deficit to 20-15. It was all Toulouse who then crossed for their first try of the match to hit the front 22-20, before adding another penalty shortly after to lead by five points. Gloucester had no answer in the second half as the Top 14 champions opened their European campaign with an away victory.
