The Southern Hemisphere club and school rugby season reached its zenith over the weekend as False Bay RFC were crowned champions of the Western Province Super League A and Norths Rugby claimed the New South Wales Shute Shield title.
Victory after 41 years
False Bay RFC claimed a comprehensive bonus point win to seal the Super A League title for the first time in 41 years after defeating Sir Lowrians 82-12 in Cape Town.
Nailbiting action at the Shute Shield Grand Final
Over 11 000 fans packed into the stadium to watch Sydney University take on Norths Rugby in the 2016 Shute Shield Grand Final. A riveting second half saw Norths come back from behind with a penalty and a incredible try from Richard Woolf.
Captain Will Miller led his side to a 28-15 victory while also securing the Best Player in the Shute Shield and Man of the Series award.
