Bath captain Hooper retires
- 2916
Hooper, who has notched up 232 Premiership matches, including 138 for Bath, sustained a back injury during a match against Leicester in December last year.
He was out for six weeks and managed to play a number of matches since including, what will now be his final appearance, March's 21-19 win at home to Newcastle Falcons.
Despite this, he has not returned to full fitness and has taken the advice of his surgeon to retire from play with immediate effect.

He was out for six weeks and managed to play a number of matches since including, what will now be his final appearance, March's 21-19 win at home to Newcastle Falcons.
Despite this, he has not returned to full fitness and has taken the advice of his surgeon to retire from play with immediate effect.
"You need to be 100% to play for Bath at this level, so my playing days are now over," he told BBC Radio Bristol.
"I implicitly trust their [the surgeon's] judgement. Now I'm very, very excited about the next challenges in life."
