Sale Sharks are delighted to announce the signing of Tongan International Tighthead Prop Halani Aulika from London Irish.
Born in Tonga Aulika emigrated to New Zealand at the age of 17 and joined Auckland Rugby club and then on to Otago in 2010.
Aulika then moved to the UK and played for Leeds Carnegie before joining London Irish in 2012 and played for the Exiles for 4 seasons.
Not only is Aulika a dominant Tighthead but he is also a regular try scorer and Sharks fans may remember one he scored at the Madejski Stadium in 2013! He played in the 2011 Rugby World Cup for Tonga in New Zealand. He was also a member of Tonga’s Pacific Nations Cup Squad last summer.
Standing at 6ft 3ins and weighing 120kg, Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond said, “ I have been watching Aulika all season and when his agent got in touch I didn’t hesitate in signing him. He is a great scrummager and puts himself about on the pitch. I am sure he will be a big asset for us next season and beyond.”
