ARU Chief Financial Officer Resigns

The Australian Rugby Union will watch another high-profile executive walk out the door after chief financial officer Todd Day handed in his resignation to take up a role with the Australian Olympic Committee.
Day has stood down from his position, which comes after news in May that chief operating officer Rob Clarke, heir apparent to chief executive Bill Pulver, had tendered his resignation.
Day was appointed the ARU's chief financial officer in September 2011 and before that worked as the CFO for the New South Wales Rugby Union.
He will finish up at the ARU on August 31 before taking on the role of CFO at the AOC, but said he expects to still be involved in the arbitration process, which begins next Monday in Sydney.
"There's always going to be conjecture and perception around that [decision], given it is so soon after Rob leaving," Day said.
"While I love the game and I'm passionate about the game … after a long time professionally it is a good time to move on and do something different.
"I handed [my resignation] in a couple of weeks ago to Bill. He tried to talk me out of it but I probably made the final decision a couple of weeks ago."
Day and Clarke travelled to Perth in April to speak with the Force, who at the time were in the firing line to be cut from Super Rugby next season.
"I'd be lying if I said it didn't have an effect and take a toll," said Day on the ongoing Super Rugby saga.
