England winger Anthony Watson is set to be ruled out of the World Cup in another huge blow for England’s preparations.
The RFU, confirming Watson will miss the tournament, said in a statement: “Everybody at England Rugby extends their best wishes to Anthony, and looks forward to seeing him back in action soon.”

Telegraph Sport understands that Watson, who came off in the latter stages of the 29-10 defeat by Ireland, is set to be replaced by Jonny May, who is starting the final warm-up match against Fiji on Saturday despite not being a part of the official 33-man World Cup squad.
There is also a worry over the fitness of utility back Elliot Daly with Joe Cokanasiga on standby to come into the squad, although England are hopeful that he may recover with two weeks until their first match.
