7 Time Top 14 Champions are back after a 4-year absence

After a four year absence in France's top flight seven-time champions Perpignan has secured their place in the 2018/19 Top 14 season.

They did so by topping the Pro D2 log at the end of the season before going on to thump Mont-de-Marsan in the semi-final and Grenoble in the final of the competition.

The move back into the Top 14 could see Perpignan claim back some of their former glory days. 

Perpignan was particularly strong side between 2003 and 2010 making 3 Top 14 finals in that time and lifting the title in 2009. 

Perpignan was also a strong European Cup side as they ended as runners-up in the 2003 edition of the Heineken Cup and were knocked out in the quarter-finals in 2006 to eventual champions Munster.

They will be looking to continue their attacking brand of rugby in the Top 14 after scoring over 100 tries during the 2017/18 Pro D2 season.

Jonathan Bousquet will be one of the sides key members after scoring 221 points for the side which included 11 tries. Perpignan had the third-best defence in the competition but their attack meant that they kept points difference well over 200 points more than their closest competitors.
