6 Super Rugby Backs set to make their mark on Test Rugby

After 15 gruelling rounds of Super Rugby, the competition takes a backseat to the British and Irish Lions Tour and the June Internationals. 

Many players threw their names into contention for International selection and were rightfully rewarded with call-ups and will look to make their debut.

We have a look at the backs who have excelled so far this season and will look to make their mark on the international stage.

Gonzalo Bertranou (Jaguares & Argentina) 

Bertranou has been in fantastic form for the Jaguares this season starting 7 of his 11 appearances for his side.

He has battled with Martin Landajo for the starting position and is expected to do the same when the English arrive in Argentina. 

Shota Emi (Sunwolves & Japan)

Shota Emi has been in fine form for a struggling Sunwolves side this season. The 95kg winger has scored 3 tries so far and has beaten 25 defenders and has collected 12 clean breaks in his 8 matches. 

Courtnall Skosan (Lions & South Africa)

Skosan has been the form South African winger in this season's Super Rugby scoring 8 tries in 13 matches.

The 25-year-old winger built on a solid 2016 season and earned his call-up to the Springbok squad to face France. 

Piers Francis (Blues & England) 

Blues fly-half Piers Francis has been in good knick for the Auckland-based side so far this season and was a surprise inclusion in Eddie Jones' England squad.

Francis has scored 79 points this season and has been consistent on attack and defence, keeping an 89% tackle succession and beating 18 defenders.

Joe Powell (Brumbies & Australia)

Joe Powell has taken all the opportunities that have come his way so far and has made the Brumbies 9 jersey his own this season.

Following the pre-season injury to Tomas Cubelli, Powell, has played in all 13 of the Brumbies matches and was able to score his first Super Rugby try.

With Will Genia set to be used sparingly following a long season in France and Nick Phipps pulling out of the June test through injury, Powell will have more game time than originally anticipated.  

Jordie Barrett (Hurricanes & New Zealand)

Beauden and Scott Barrett's younger brother, Jordie, has been sensational in his debut Super Rugby season so much so that he has been called into the All Black squad to face the British and Irish Lions.

Barrett has played in all 13 of the Hurricanes Super Rugby matches scoring 5 tries and assisting in another 5.
