5 Premiership Round 6 Head to Heads
- 1723
Round 6 of the Gallagher Premiership kicks off on Friday between Bath and Exeter Chiefs while there are four games being played on Saturday before Worcester Warriors and Bristol Bears round off the weekend on Sunday. We take a look at five massive head to heads this weekend:
The Battle of the loose forwards: Bath Rugby v Exeter Chiefs:
There is a titanic battle in the back row in the opening match of the weekend.
Zach Mercer and David Ewers face off in the 6 jerseys with both players started the season well with both players have scored two tries apiece and average 10 tackles per game
Tom Ellis has a massive battle with the in-form Don Armand, while Matt Kvesic faces off against Taulupe Faletau.
Kvesic has been in superb form and is another Exeter player that is unlucky not to have been included in the England squad.
Dan Biggar v George Ford: Northampton Saints v Leicester Tigers:
There are plenty of mouth-watering encounters in this clash at Twickenham but the battle between Biggar and Ford could well decide the outcome of the match.
Both players have enjoyed good early season form and will look to get the upper hand over their opposite number on Saturday.
Elliot Daly v Billy Twelvetrees: Wasps v Gloucester:
The battle between Sopoaga and Cipriani would have headlined this clash had the All Black not been ruled out through injury.
The clash between Daly and Twelvetrees in the midfield will be just as entertaining.
Daly has been moved around a bit in the Wasps backline so far this season and faces off against one of the most consistent performers in the competition.
Marcus Smith v Owen Farrell: Harlequins v Saracens:
It is the new guy vs Veteran and we bet Eddie Jones will be watching this one closely. It is the last Premiership game of the day on Saturday and Harlequins are up against unbeaten Saracens, who are on a 12 match winning streak in the competition.
Quins won their last game but game off 3 successive losses. Smith has had a good season, kicking at 86% beating 5 players and racking up 51 points so far. He is however up against a man with 5 try assists, a 90% tackle completion rate and 2 clean breaks.
Smith will be in charge of putting Paul Lasike away into the awaiting defensive backs of Farrell and Lozowski while the 10/12 of Saracens will be giving their backs plenty of ball.
The Back 3 - Sale vs Newcastle:
Yarde vs Goneva, McGuigan vs Sinoti & James vs Hammersley, these are match ups made in heaven with all offering plenty individually and extremely exciting.
Yarde has beaten 15 defenders this season and looks to be regaining form but he is up against a legend, one that has beaten more men than him and is a beast on defence.
McGuigan has himself moved around the backline a bit this season but the Scottish international is up against one of the most dangerous backs in the game. Sinoti Sinoti has run 219m in 5 games beating 14 men.
Hammersley, with more defenders beaten and meters gained for Newcastle will be up against James who has spent most of his season at 13 and the odd game at 10.
