2023/24 Champions Cup Format Announced

The EPCR have announced the format for the 2023/24 Champions Cup season.


The competition will return to a multi-pool format with the 24 clubs in four pools of six.

Each pool will consist of two teams from the Gallagher Premiership, two teams from the BKT URC and two teams from the Top 14.

There are no intra-league games in the pool stage, which means that Leinster Rugby will face two teams from England and two teams from France.

Clubs drawn in the same pool, but not in the same league, play one another home OR away. This means that each team will play two home games and two away games in the pool stage.



The four highest ranked teams at the end of the pool stage will reach the Champions Cup knockout stages. The fifth place team in each pool will drop into the Challenge Cup. The team in sixth place will be eliminated.


There are four rounds in the knockout stages of the Champions Cup. The round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final which will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on May 25th.
