A ground-breaking deal between The British and Irish Lions and South Africa has reportedly been struck that will see film crews make a fly-on-the-wall documentary during the tour next year.
According to Telegraph Sport, both nations have agreed a deal that will see film crews go behind the scenes during the 2021 British and Irish Lions Tour of both camps for the first time.
The video diary of the Lions tour of South Africa in 1997 remains one of the most iconic sports documentaries of all time and both parties hope that this new joint venture could land a lucrative broadcasting deal.

According to the report, Lions insiders are hoping the documentary could become rugby’s 'Last Dance' equivalent to help cover the costs of the tour.
It is also understood that the joint venture is part of an historic commercial partnership that has been struck between the Lions and the South African Rugby Union (SARU), and shows collaboration between the two hemispheres at a time when it has so far proved elusive in securing a new global calendar.
