“I’m not keeping any secrets about where I want to play.” - Jordie Barrett

Versatile All Black Jordie Barrett has made no secret of the fact that his preferred position is fullback.
The 24 year-old stole the show in Round 5 of Super Rugby Aotearoa, scoring all the Hurricanes’ 30 points in their victory over the Highlanders on Friday, thereby setting a new record in the competition for most points scored in a game.
Barrett left the field with a hat-trick of tries to his name while having also enjoyed a deadly evening with the boot, slotting every single one of his six kicks at goal. Over the years, he has been used effectively in various positions across the backline but it appears that the number 15 is the one he desires on his back.
“I’m not keeping any secrets about where I want to play,” he said. “Everyone knows I want to play 15 and I’m enjoying playing 15 for the Hurricanes, and hopefully we can just keep building on this performance. It’s just the start for us.”
The win was the Canes’ first of the campaign after having lost to the Blues, the table-topping Crusaders and the Chiefs. They next face the Blues on Friday 2 April at Eden Park and another such performance from Barrett would put his team in good stead.
