Leinster take a comfortable 31-12 lead over Zebre into halftime. Two early penalties saw Zebre up 6-0 after as many minutes, but Leinster hit back with the games first try and added a penalty to lead 10-6. Leinster then picked up a yellow card around the midpoint of the half, with the resulting Zebre penalty making it a one point ball game at 10-9. Despite being down a player, Leinster ran in a second try to push the lead out to 17-9. Zebre added a fourth penalty, but Leinster would finish the half strongly, crossing for two tries in quick succession for a commanding lead at the break.
