Leinster take a handy 20-6 lead over Montpellier into halftime. Leinster got off to a dream start with a try just five minutes in and they added a penalty shortly after to lead 8-0 after only ten minutes. Montpellier got on the board with a penalty midway through the half, but a second Leinster try followed to see the visitors up 13-3. A second Montpellier penalty made it a seven point ball game, but Leinster would run in their third try five minutes from halftime for a comfortable lead at the break.
