Castres and the Exeter Chiefs head into halftime all square at 12-12. Exeter struck first with a try midway through the half, but Castres hit back with a penalty shortly after. Exeter scored their second try just short of the half hour mark to push the lead to 12-3. However, Castres kept the scoreboard ticking over, slotting a further three penalties to draw level at the break.
