According to the Irish Independent, Rassie Erasmus has triggered his six months' notice clause in his contract that will allow him to return to South Africa to take over the role as Director of Rugby.
Erasmus has made no secret of his desire to lead the Springboks, the impending departure will come as a major blow for the province, with Jacques Nienaber expected to follow Erasmus back to South Africa.
The (SARU) have regretted allowing one of the country's best coaches leave, Erasmus will remain at Munster for the start of next season and will take control of pre-season as planned.
The former Springbok captain, a previous general manager of the Boks, is believed to have received a lucrative offer including complete control of the squad without any restrictions on selections.
