Leigh Halfpenny to leave Toulon

Leigh Halfpenny's contract will not be renewed at Toulon due to his frequent absence to attend international duties.

"I do not want to extend his stay," said Toulon President Mourad Boudjellal after negotiations concerning a possible extension.

"It is not for nothing, but it is the fault of the international system and his frequent absence, even if we really wanted to keep him if he had stayed, he would have returned in early August but would have missed the first three days because he could not have played for a month."

Halfpenny signed for Toulon at the start of the 2014/15 season.
