A New Zealand Schools representative in 2010, Fatialofa turned out for both the Southland Stags and Auckland in NPC before making his move to Super Rugby with the Hurricanes.
After impressing during the pre-season match in early 2016, Fatialofa made his debut in Palmerston North against the Force.
Fatialofa had an excellent debut season playing 15 times for the Hurricanes, as they marched their way to the Super Rugby title.
After a breakout 2016 season, Fatialofa was building toward an equally impressive 2017 season before injury struck.
An athletic lock who is equally adept in the set-piece as he is in open play, his return was a major boost to the squad in 2018.
He had 22 Super Rugby caps heading into the 2018 season and had scored 2 tries.
In March Worcester Warriors announced that Fatialofa would join the Premiership side on a two-year deal, at the end of the 2018 Mitre 10 Cup season.
Fatialofa's arrival at the club was delayed until he had helped Auckland win New Zealand's Mitre 10 Cup and he was then given time to recover from a hamstring injury before he played for Warriors.
His outstanding lineout work was a feature of the second half of Warriors' season and he also proved a mobile and powerful ball carrier.
He suffered a serious neck injury a minute after he came on as a replacement in the Premiership defeat at Saracens in January 2020. He spent almost three weeks in intensive care at St Mary's Hospital in Paddington before being moved to the major trauma unit.
He was discharged from St Mary's in February 2020.
